For either a drama or comm class the students were required to individually do an envigorated reading of the piece aloud in a well trafficed location on campus.Want to be even more bold? Read aloud in public.

When I first read this I was reminded of an assignment I saw students partake in while I was in college. This one came about from personal experience. I was sitting in a starbucks, reading Wally Lamb and had another patron sit down next to me and ask what I thought about the book. We ended up talking for about an hour and she is now a good friend of mine. I do agree that it is rare for people to take their heads out of their own thoughts and look around - but it can't hurt to try. Plus, nothing says you can't be the one commenting on their choice of reading material.Kirsten

Michael –

Thank you for the comment. It’s hard to imagine people, who have self-motivated lives of their own, to bother to ask you something a bout a book you put on display. That being said, my favorite book is Robert Lewis Stevenson’s Treasure Island. I still own my well-read fourth-grade copy of the book.

This sounds really passive.
