I love my blog, I love writing and I love improving both. In order to do so, I spend a lot of time reading other blogs and finding ways to improve my creativity. I usually delete posts from my feed reader once they are read, but every once in a while, one catches my attention and I keep them around. Since it is the first full week of 2009, I figured it was a good time to share the greats of 2008. Below are the 9 posts from 2008 that stayed in my reader through the year. Each one changed my perspective in one way or another and I felt they needed to be passed along. In no particular order…
1. Chris Brogan – Is your blog for rent -
I haven’t been given any cool gadgets to test yet, but I know that when I do, I will follow Chris’ advice about full disclosure.
2. Tornado Marketing – Marketing Hype -
I agree with Adrianne – I really don’t need to read something filled with a million !! and lots of colors to get me to buy something.
3. Wright Creativity (me) – The ABC’s of creativity –
My favorite of my posts for the year. Too bad I still can’t think of an X. argh.
4. Mary Schmidt – Losing the sale with one symbol –
I realize that I don’t sell a product, and therefore can’t get caught using an asterisk. But, it was an interesting post and worth passing on for anyone who does!
5. Creative Something – Pigs Fly –
Re-think your thinking in 2009. Pigs can fly. This post proved it.
6. ProBlogger – Twitter tips for bloggers -
Twitter is here to stay (assuming the phishers don’t destroy it) so you might as well learn to use it better. I certainly have, and it has definitely made a difference in my blog (and working on my career).
7. Wendy (@imsleepdeprived) – Men’s Cologne
Okay, so it isn’t going to make your blog better and certainly won’t make you anymore money this year, but this post was too funny (& creative) not to talk about.
8. Ari Herzog – Linking your posts –
Linking text properly is not difficult, but it is definitely necessary. Ari explains why…
9. Kim Woodbridge – Wordle –
This post introduced me to wordle – a great tool for some fun creativity. If you haven’t checked it out – it’s a must.
So that’s it – my favorites of 2008. Let me know what you thought about them. Or, if you have a post that changed your way of thinking, feel free to share it with me in the comments!
