Art worth asking for

I have taken a break over the last couple weeks on photography friday because I haven’t been nearly as inspired as I would like. I decided that I was tired of just looking for inspiration, so I asked for recommendations from my twitter followers.Which of course, got me just what I needed…inspiration to share!

Here are some of the pieces that my twitter question led me to find:

1. From DeviantArt.com – David Kawena: (courtesy of @MatchesMalone)

2. From McCallStudios.com – Robert McCall (courtesy of @DanielBrenton)

4. From Boston.com -  David McNew (courtesy of @MelAclaro, although I wasn’t a fan of who this event was for…)

I’m not one to judge photography as it’s certainly not my forte, but in terms of what I can’t stop looking through, I’m loving Robert McCall’s stuff. It’s like what I always imagined the future would be like when I was a little kid. I think they’re all good, but Robert McCall gets my vote on this one.

My favorites are 2 and 7 for different reasons. If pressed for a choice, it would be your bedroom.

@Ari — you, you … dirty younger man.

@Kirsten — well, I guess you know who my favorite is here. Robert McCall did poster art for 2001: a Space Odyssey, and some concept work for the big, bright, and really boring Star Trek: The Motion Picture.

@Mike — I agree … the painting pictured here was from the mid-1970s. Something like 20 years ago I got to see an exhibition of his in the Scottsdale Art Museum, and it was delightful, but after a point it almost seemed like eating too much sherbet. Too much of a good thing, I guess. Didn’t think that was possible.
