Audit by a Wright Creativity newbie

Today’s blog challenge for the 31DBBB by problogger is a little difficult today. The requirement is to find someone who has never read/visited your blog and ask them to visit it. He recommends not talking while they go through it, but watch where they go, what they click on, avoid, look at, etc. Then, have them answers a few questions:

  1. What were their first impressions?
  2. What did they first think your blog was about when they arrived at it?
  3. Did they find it easy to read/navigate/understand?
  4. What did they ‘feel’ when they first arrived at your blog?
  5. What suggestions do they have on how you could improve your blog?
  6. What questions do they have having surfed your blog?
  7. What words would they use to describe the design?
  8. What are the main things that they remember about your blog 10 minutes later?
  9. What suggestions do they have from a user perspective?

…ok, so the first problem I ran into was finding someone who had never visited by blog and was willing to take some time and chat with me. I contemplated waiting til my husband got home (yes, he has really never been to my blog…) but I was in the mood to work on this now. I sent out a tweet asking for anyone who had never read my blog to help me with my project….and thank goodness people responded! While I can’t see what they click on, I can get their answers via email!

Now all I have to do is wait and see what everyone has to say! Hopefully they will all be honest. I really want to know what everyone thinks, and maybe I’ll even gain some new readers! If there is some great advice, I will share it tomorrow.

Have you tried this yet?

    * What were their first impressions? Pretty easy to read
    * What did they first think your blog was about when they arrived at it? About blogging – that’s all that’s on the 1st page
    * Did they find it easy to read/navigate/understand? Yes, pretty much. It takes a few seconds to register the links on the right.
    * What did they ‘feel’ when they first arrived at your blog? Site is too wide for my monitor and I don’t like scrolling across
    * What suggestions do they have on how you could improve your blog? Larger font, narrower page – us old folks don’t like to squint
    * What questions do they have having surfed your blog? None – it’s pretty self-explanatory & easy to understand
    * What words would they use to describe the design? Colorful
    * What are the main things that they remember about your blog 10 minutes later? A lot to read in a very small font
    * What suggestions do they have from a user perspective? Already said…

    Kudos!
