Freelance? New Job? New What? Not sure.

As many of you have heard – I have been laid off. Now I can do 2 things:

  1. get really mad, frustrated and pissed.
  2. get over it, and figure out the future.

I’m going with #2 (no jokes, c’mon, we’re all adults here!). so…what does that mean for me?

I think I am going to go after the dream I have always had to be 100% freelance.

So…what does that mean for you? (you didn’t think this was all about ME did you?)

I am hoping that in my network of readers, friends, extended friends, etc… will have possible opportunities or the ability to help me get to 100% freelance. There are basically 2 different ways that I am hoping for help (if you can come up with your own way that you’d like to help…I am open to ideas!).

  1. By recommending me and my portfolio to anyone that you know (or for yourself) is looking for someone freelance. If you have questions about my talents, what I can do or what I have done in the past, I can also send my full resume if you would like – email me at kirsten(at)wrightcreativity.com for more information.
  2. Continuing to read my blog and supporting me in that way. I appreciate my readers and am happy that you are here. If we aren’t connected on Facebook, Linkedin or Twitter, connect with me today :)

oh, and for anyone who read this tweet:

job

…and assumed that meant I was going to be asking for donations and charity – I am sorry. I was considering doing a button that linked to my profile for people – but I understand the confusion – which is why I did a longer post instead. While it would be easy to ask for money and play poor pitiful me, that isn’t my style. I’d rather work for what I get and ask for help in finding those connections. Which is why the ways to help above include connecting and sharing links and asking for introductions/connections…not money.

With that said – if you happen to be a person who feels like their pockets are too heavy, love what I write and want to donate to the building of my business…I would never stop you from doing so ;) . If you do – you can email me at kirsten(at)wrightcreativity.com.

One final thought, I know that this has been a really tough year for a lot of my readers, my followers and my friends. Remember that we are all here to support eachother however we can and try to find the silver lining in everything that you do. Have a great day – I am off to enjoy mine :)

    Kristen:

I admire your perspective inspite of your current circumstances. While I cannot promise more than “I am here to support” (unfortunately not monetarily:~) I will certainly keep you in mind should anything cross my path. If you would, please email me your resume and we’ll start from there!

Enjoy your evening and wine! :~)

    Hi Kirsten,

Sorry to hear the news, but you’re going about things the right way, in my opinion. I am excited for our project and know that we will do great things with it.

You’ll soon look back on this day and remember it as the one when everything in your life changed for the best.

Running a business is hard. If it was easy, @OCRed wouldn’t have put you in this position! But creativity, competence and passion will always be in demand, Kirsten…

Ouch! That must hurt. But you CAN make it as a freelancer. I am sure.
I’ve been doing it since 2004/5 since I quit my job as a university lecturer to write full-time. Sure, I have to translate, hackwrite and do a bit of consulting from time to time, but the more you go there the more it comes around.

There have been times when it gets a bit tight but usually that’s when you have to hold your nerve and keep plugging away.

Wish you all the best. If anything comes along that has your name on it, I’ll get in touch.
