Today is day #4 of the better blog challenge from problogger. I also did day #3 today, about promoting you/your blog. Anyway, today’s post is all about analyzing a top blog in your niche. There were only 2 steps.Identify a successful blog in your niche Take 15 minutes to do some analysis of the blog in some of the following areas: Content, reader engagement, design, monetization,...
Yesterday was day #3 of how to make you blog better in 31 days from problogger. But, because of the craziness that ensued, I didn’t really feel like someone telling me what to write about. Problem? I still don’t. So I am taking his ‘promote a post’ and turning it into ‘promote really cool stuff’. Below is a widget that I created from amazon that...
As many of you have heard – I have been laid off. Now I can do 2 things:get really mad, frustrated and pissed. get over it, and figure out the future.I’m going with #2 (no jokes, c’mon, we’re all adults here!). so…what does that mean for me? I think I am going to go after the dream I have always had to be 100% freelance. So…what does...
Day #2 of Problogger’s 31 days to a better blog is writing a list post. He claims the benefits from a list post are numerous, including scan-ability, viral-ability and the break down of complicated things-ability. I hadn’t heard about it, but figured I would take a look. Normally, I am not a huge fan of Darren Rowse (ProBlogger) articles, because he is a bit too dry for me (I like sarcasm, pith and...
I love askimet – it is the most impressive spam filter I have found for wordpress. Plus, it has this nifty little feature where if it is not sure that it is spam, it keeps it in a ‘spam’ folder rather than immediately deleting it. Most people I know never check it, because they assume it is just spam-that-hasn’t-been-deleted-yet. My idea: CHECK IT!!! I repeat –...
Thanks to Rebecca, one of my readers, and her blog I love (Provocationofmind.com), I found a great new photographer/designer that I must share. In Rebecca’s post about self discipline in writing she commented back to one of her readers (Jana Souza) and included a link to her site. Rebecca also mentioned that Jana was an incredible photographer. Many of you know my addiction with photography....
** This post was originally posted this morning, and had a bunch of fabulous comments – but then something happened to my blog and I couldn’t figure out what. Thinking this posts may have had issues, I deleted it. That means your comments were deleted as well. I’m sorry. Please re-comment if you would like and hopefully I can figure out what is wrong with...
