The Elevator Ride with Wright Creativity
I was on the phone with Katie Favazza today discussing her blog (incredible conservative writer!) and she mentioned participating in ProBlogger’s 31 days to a better blog. I hadn’t heard about it, but figured I would take a look. Normally, I am not a huge fan of Darren Rowse (ProBlogger) articles, because he is a bit too dry for me (I like sarcasm, pith and humor even in my business reading). But, his idea for a better blog in 31 days caught my attention and I figured it was worth the try. Today is day 1 of 31 and the topic was to write an elevator pitch for your blog.
Elevator Pitch: “An elevator pitch is an overview of an idea for a product, service, or project. The name reflects the fact that an elevator pitch can be delivered in the time span of an elevator ride (for example, thirty seconds or 100-150 words).” – Wikipedia
The point of writing an elevator pitch (to paraphrase Darren) is to give the readers a reason why you write and what they can expect when they come to your blog. Ultimately it should help you in your writing because it has given you a defined goal or statement of intent for your blog. He also suggests that it can be used throughout your site as a tagline or mission statement. He even recommends adding it to your business card to make them ‘pop’ a bit more. His post continues to explain what an elevator pitch is, the many steps to get to one and how to create yours, etc…So, here’s mine:
Wright Creativity Elevator Pitch: “I write about creativity in business and in life, hoping to inspire one person a day to be more creative. Sometimes, the ‘wright’ creativity is all you need.”
Your turn to share your elevator pitch (c’mon it’s fun…really!).
