What have you always wanted to know?

One of the most important parts of social media marketing and blogging is to start a conversation. You can write and write all day, but if no one poses questions or contributes to the conversation, it gets pretty boring pretty quick. Comments are what keep the blog going and what keep a writer motivated through those tough days. The problem is: How do you get those comments/questions? I have asked my readers to de-lurk in the past, and it has greatly increased the level of comments that I have been getting (thanks all to you guys!). It has made the last few months of writing even more enjoyable and successful. As a little reward, I am giving you a bit of freedom.

I am asking you: What do you want to know?

This may be a dangerous question to pose to an audience, but I feel like taking a risk. So, for today and today only, I am giving YOU (my fabulous reader) the chance to ask me ANY question you want. It can be about marketing, social media, work, life, my condo, favorite book, anything that you want. Really, anything you want to know!

Let’s get the questions started!

Since I agree w/ the concept of “de-lurking” and I want to show love and support for an OC Tweep, I will ask a question.

What book(s) do you recommend for entrepreneurs? Maybe a few rec’s (just a suggestion): one motivational, one on how to get started, and your fav on marketing.

I’ve been looking for a useful way to de-lurk and contribute to your blog, ’cause I so appreciate your general candor. Thanks.

Will you describe in detail your vision of your day, 5 years from today?

    wow Ross! Great question!

5 years from today, I imagine my day to be spent with my first baby! My husband and I would like to have kids in the next 4 years, so I will *hopefully* be spending my day with a fabulous little 1yr old girl :) When she is napping, I will be continuing to write my blog on the side, as I could never imagine giving this up either.

What do you feel would make you “successful” in your own eyes? (Mostly in regard to your blog efforts, but also life in general if you’d rather answer that.)

Oh, and as other commenters and readers would agree, I appreciate what you write/share on here. It’s been great and informative content, so thank you.

    Mike,

I have a variety of measurements for success on my blog. Right now, getting comments like this make me feel successful (I asked. My readers delivered). On a purely numbers basis, when I hit the 1000 subsciber mark, I’m throwing a party – or at least treating myself to a pair of Jimmy Choo’s :) On a deeper level, I measure my success by the quality of emails and comments I get in response to the blog and my work

Because I am not a designer I would love to see your thoughts on design and what you like don’t like and why. What works and what fails. maybe a post on design tips for writers or what to look for etc.

I will definitely be working on that post in the future! thanks for the great idea. As far as my own personal taste in design, I like bright minimalism (as noted by my website and the design I created as a spec for Kaiser Permanente).

    Hi Kirsten:
Okay, which do you think is better to have on while your up late and night writing in bed; Seinfeld, Family Guy, Friends or Get Smart? I know it’s a tough one, but you said ANYTHING :)
    Suz
(PS the post linked below goes perfectly with my question)

Actually, if I am going to do late night writing, I prefer re-runs of Sex in the City or Sabrina the Teenage Witch (yes, I am still 12 sometimes). But, of those 4, I would choose Family Guy. :) Great question!
