What are you focused on this week?
We all have goals in life, but most of us only focus on the large scale ones, the ones that we want to achieve down the road. Unfortunately, this kind of focus shuts us out to the goals that we can accomplish in the short run, like this hour, this day or this week. When is the last time you really thought about what you could accomplish in the next hour as a big goal? Probably not very often…if you’re anything like me, they just become “tasks” at that point. The problem is that then I never reward myself for any of these tasks and I lose some of my motivation because it just feels like another day.
So how can we fix this? Focus on some smaller tasks each week, and reward yourself when you complete them. For me, my tasks include:
- Finishing the copy and page coding for Skinetics new site.
- Finish the mockups for the rest of Testa Capital’s new site.
- Create a list of 5 target clients in Orange County to contact.
- Prepare my presentation for my two speaking events next week.
- …And on a more personal note: Get Badger to feel comfortable at home (for those who didn’t see my tweet or FB, Badger is our just-adopted greyhound. He is 5 1/2 and very sweet, but also very shy and nervous. He is adjusting slowly to living here, but it is going to take a few more sleepless nights and tough days I am sure).
What is on your task list this week? How can you reward yourself?
