Are you actually here?

Remember the first day of school? Your teacher would go around the room and have everyone introduce themselves and tell the group something about them? Your teacher did this for two reasons: So they could get to know you and so you could get to know the rest of the class. My blog is much like a classroom – we come here to learn, share and experience. So today, we’re gonna have a ‘first day of school’ here on my blog.

I know there are a lot of you out there who just like to lurk in the shadows (and that’s okay…) but today is not a day for lurking. Today is the day to stand up and say hello – you can share as much or as little as you would like, as long as you share something!

So, I’ll start.

Hi, I’m Kirsten Wright. Web design, social media and blog strategy are my passions – and starting Wright Creativity was both the scariest and most rewarding thing I have done in business. My hubby and I have been married 3 years, and this year, we adopted a greyhound named Badger. I love pink, am a huge geek, love playing Civilization (world domination is fun!) and still love the Disney Chanel.

Your turn!

My name is withheld for reasons of national security, but my Twitter handle is @DNACowboy. I’m 43 years old in the East Bay Area, Northern California. I’m utterly disgusted with how sideways my life has gotten in the last two years, and am working every day to make positive changes. I want to get back into product/project management and am working to resurrect my old consulting business. I have a somewhat wicked tongue and am easily distracted by shiny things. Need for Speed, MW, and Fallout 3 are my guilty vices. If I could, I would move back to Santa Barbara or Southern California in a flat heartbeat. And there you are…

Well Mr.Secretive – I grew up in Norcal (Los Gatos to be exact) and understand the desire to be down here…cause it pretty much rocks in socal. I am sorry to hear that you have been struggling the past couple years but am very glad to hear that you are not taking it lying down. I wish you the best of luck getting things back in a positive direction.

      Oh..look, a shiny coin! ;)

Part of the fun of being a “Texas Millionaire”. I’ve had some good success before, just have to work my way back to where I want to be. It all comes around, and when you have what you want again, it tastes THAT much sweeter. And makes you respect it that much more.

        Thanks, darlin’!

  • Lindap642

    Hey Kristen,
My name is Linda Parmentier, I started hanging out on twitter to meet some people and try to find a more positive attitude. I started writing a blog (http://lindap642.wordpress.com/) about my life and am enjoying it. Some days it is up some days down but am having fun doing it. I have 2 kids one son who is married and gave me 1 Grandbaby, 1 daughter who is getting ready to be married in February. I have 3 boston terriers, 2 cats, 1 umbrella cockatoo, and 1 foster military macaw I am hand feeding. I have been out of work for almost 2 years if anybody knows of a clerical, data entry, job (I am also a fast learner too) in Tampa Florida send me an email (lindap642@yahoo.com). Thanks for letting me share, it was fun! ;)

Linda – First, loved the pictures of your military macaw (that will be featured here on Friday the 15th of October!). I will definitely pass your information along if I know of anybody looking in that area – and thanks for sharing, I appreciate it!

  • http://www.ricardobueno.com Ricardo Bueno

Hi, I’m Ricardo but my friends call me “Ribeezie” :-) I’m addicted to Pandora, Redbull (or Rockstar) and caffeine. I play in a basketball league on weekends (we just won the championship in one of our divisions two weeks ago, w00t!). I’m a marketer by day – teaching people how to be awesome on the web! By night, I like to relax and have fun.

    • Anonymous

Ricardo – it was awesome to be able to take our online communications to the phone last week and I am really looking forward to working more with you. Love the nickname, and maybe when we get a chance to sit down in person, you can tell me where it came from?

  • http://www.twitter.com/HealthOC Candice C

Hi! I’m Candice Cendaña. I’m a single mom in Orange County, just trying to figure things out – ALL AT ONCE! They say God only gives you what you can handle, but apparently he got my memo mixed up with someone else’s because sh*t I am drained, lol :0). I’m fortunate to have love and support from family and friends, and I couldn’t ask for anything more. This year has been the most difficult for me in my adult life, in too many ways, but somehow it’s also been the most exciting. I live for the thrill and that never goes away. I believe laughing and dancing are the best medicines, and the best ways to tell the serious things in life to suck it. Luckily I met this great girl named Kirsten Wright who likes to throw fab parties, so I’m in good company :D

Candice – I am just as happy that I have met you and can consider you a friend. I knew most of this, but I want to thank you for sharing with my audience. You will make it all work, I know you will! :)

  • http://twitter.com/CashewStyle Alicia Hansen

Hello, all. I’m Alicia Hansen, AKA @cashewstyle, a graphic designer, a lover of coffee, music and endorphins. Almost two years ago I was let go from a marketing agency and while it has been difficult and extremely challenging, it has pushed me to work on my own and not go back to the stifling agency job. I have an amazing eight-year-old daughter who continues to inspire and push me beyond what I thought possible. When away from my business persona, I train in boxing, work with kettlebells, and get lost on the bike with Spinning (told ya…endorphins are my friend). Ten years ago I started my personal blog and stuck with it until a few years ago as it no longer served the cathartic purpose. Twitter has been a great way for me to stay connected and continue to share information, something I have always appreciated the internet for. Everything I do is done with passion, from designing and exercise to reading or blowing bubbles with my girl.

Coffee….mmmm (I am a sucker for the dark stuff as well!). I love how passionate you are about what you do, passion is where it is at. I am very impressed by your workout regimen…sounds pretty tough. I do pole fitness and run, and that is enough for me. As far as giving up blogging, I applaud you for being able to know when it was no longer serving its purpose. Life’s too short to do something you don’t love!

  • http://authenticrealities.com/ Dian Reid

Well, thanks for asking, Kirsten, happy to be here! I’m Dian Reid, I’m a life coach, and I work with people around coming out (of the closet or sometimes just singing the song like Diana Ross!). I love cheese, authentic living, and Dodger baseball (this year hurts a little). My domestic parter (would-be-wife-if-not-for-CA/US-uncivil-laws) and I have been together for 3 years, and have a 2-year-old rescued lab/mutt. I started my coaching business, Authentic Realities, 2 years ago and have found it to be one of the most amazing, rewarding experiences of my life.

    Nice to meet you =)

Dian – Nice to meet you as well. I grew up with a black lab – such amazing dogs…you’ll have to share a picture sometime! What you are doing sounds like it is extremely rewarding work (I’ll bet very difficult some days too!). Thanks so much for sharing :)

  • http://shortnsweet.tumblr.com Christine

Aloooooha! I’m Christine, aka @christine426. I’m at Walt Disney Studios by day, writer by night, cupcake caterer on the weekends. Sounds like a lot, but all three combine some serious passions of mine – new technology (Disney), writing (I’m in an all-female comedy writing collective) and baking. I’m in a long-term relationship with one of the most handsome and funniest men I’ve ever met. No kids (yet!), but three very loving, rescued Corgis. Love to spend time with my family and friends, laugh, travel, hula and play volleyball. Always up for a new adventure.

    Nice to meet you all!

Christine – I had no idea you were involved with Disney! I am (as you read) still a fan of disney channel, and happen to be Minnie Mouse’s biggest fan ;) Thanks so much for sharing all about you – I can’t wait for the chance to get to meet you in person at the #lbctweetup!

      • http://shortnsweet.tumblr.com Christine

I know! I saw that and I laughed. I was just over at their building this afternoon picking up lunch. She’s one of my faves, too :)

  • http://www.converstations.com MikeSansone

Hiya, I’m Mike Sansone, a Conversation Conductor (I love connecting folks and watching what happens) and a Social Mediatician (studying how folks use the tools to connect). I’ve had my own business since 2005 and it still both scares and excites me daily. I love to SCAMPERing ideas into something new. I love learning. I love baseball, a sharp wit, mornings before sunrise, and a fireplace on snowy nights. And thanks for asking:-)

    • Anonymous

Mike – I love your words to describe what you do/are. Pretty awesome (in fact, I may have to steal social mediatician…if I could figure out how to pronounce it!).

I have no idea how you do mornings before sunrise…my morning (on a good day) starts at 8:30 when I stumble into my office in my pj’s

How much would you like me to share? Might I point you to http://ariherzog.com where you can click to my various links for Facebook, LinkedIn, and Twitter; and connect to my two blogs on social media marketing tips and being a city councilor.

Ari – I was hoping to hear some on the personal side too (not everything is always about business ;) ) but I do appreciate you for participating and reading!

Thanks for sharing. Great to get to know you. I’m Katie, I live in Dallas Texas. I have an 11 month old son, a wonderful husband, and a cute hyper little dog.

I think it is a genetic trait for small dogs to be hyper…something about making up for their size ;)

  • http://www.nevermoresearch.com Mike Wilton

My name is Mike Wilton and I am an internet marketer with a bit of an unhealthy obsession for all things SEO and Social Media. I am a father to 2 year old twins and will be married to my wife for 6 years next month. I am a music lover, a blogger, a Halloweenie, and one of the few guys on the planet that actually like the Twilight books and movies.

    • Anonymous

Twilight? Really? Okay, I promise not to tease you too much :) Thanks so much for sharing a bit about you – and for coming to visit. I can’t imagine having two year old twins…I am sure that is a handful!

  • Jerry Reed

Hi Kirsten and all, I am Jerry Reed. I am a Realtor here in Orange Cy which is in Sou Calif. I discovered Social Media just over a year ago. I am totally enjoying it. It is wonderfully rewarding and at the same time frustrating. The rewarding part just continues to get better and the frustrating part is slowly diminishing. I hope to someday be able to know enough to help others learn how to apply the Social Media basics to their lives, not for monetary rewards but for the reward of helping others. My best to all who see this.

Jerry – Thanks for introducing yourself! I have really enjoyed the chance to get to know you better over the last few events and #smmoc. I look forward to your knowledge and growth!
