The Next Chapter

quitmyjobGoing back to work after my girls came home – preemie but strong – was both exciting and terrifying. I was motivated to continue what my team had started and help to grow the digital communications department at Transamerican Auto Parts/4 Wheel Parts in a way that would make a lasting impact. But after 3 months of 3 hour a day commutes, I had to make a change. I love what I got to accomplish, my team, our wins, were amazing. But time with my girls is fleeting and I need to be both a mom and a businesswoman. And sadly, I couldn’t accomplish that there.

So, I quit my job without another one lined up. It was (is) terrifying. But it was the right choice. It was the choice I had to make to open the door for what’s next – something that lets me utilize my experience as a social/digital strategist AND gives me more time with the two little humans that call me mom.

But, until I find that perfect next fit, I am going back to what I loved and started 6 years ago: Consulting on social / digital strategy. Now, with a lot more experience in the big bad consumer goods world!

congrats! although not a mom, i am a parent to a young one and i can completely related. I didn’t qualify for FMLA when my daughter was born and my previous employer could only give me a week (still grateful, they didn’t have to do that at all) off. Each day goes by faster and faster and it’s these moments that last a lifetime.

With that said, I’ve been working on M2 Motoring from home. Stressful, but I wouldn’t change anything for the time I’ve had with my daughter.

Very happy and glad to see you’ve put the babies first. Best of luck!
